To vaccinate or not To vaccinate

It was a normal work day until a gentleman climbs in my car, and after a few moments of silence he dryly asks: will you vaccinate?

Immediately, hamlet`s question popped in my mind, obviously adapted to the situation: “to vaccinate or not to vaccinate?”

The highly and much expected Covid vaccine proved to not be an immunity messiah, but an apple of discord. The society is now divided in fanatic supporters of vaccination on one side and on the other side the indifferent, cautious and even opposing. While we are fed the option of vaccination through messages of the electoral type in which the image of a doctor, politician or a public figure recommends you follow their example, we do not see the side of those skeptical or those who abstain as you should in a normal society with equitable values. After all, the forming of an objective opinion is based on impartial information.

The covid19 pandemic equation does not only contain the unknown of the virus`s merciless manifestations. But also those of the “wonder” cure, a vaccine found in record time. The relationship between the two unknowns is resolved for now through mathematical probabilities. That is why, while we salute the efforts of staff involved in finding a viable formula, we do not despise the reticence of those who analyze the results.

The words from Shakespeare`s drama excellently describe the logic of the unknown:” towards other unknown. This thought humbles us”

I would respectfully ask my customer:” why choose a side?” an action`s motive, the conviction at the root of a choice is just as important as the choice itself. This shows what kind of people we are.

After the door closes shut, our discussion made him wonder….
